You must know that the hike itineraries of the Maremma are not simple walks, but real unforgettable experiences: you can see the typical local animals, taste the local products, admire the landscapes and observe the testimonies left by the ancients civilization.
Our farmhouses, located in a strategic position, will allow you to easily reach paths and places where you can walk in contact with nature.
For those who prefer the sea and do not want to spend too much time in driving, we recommend the Castiglione della Pescaia area, a few minutes by car from the Zuccherini and Bandinelli Farmhouse. This area is ideal for those who want to enjoy free time, relax in contact with nature without heading in to difficult itineraries. It may be pleasant, especially for those traveling with children, to explore the short and simple itinerary that crosses Ponti di Badia, Diaccia Botrona up to Casa Rossa Ximenes.
The landscape of the Uccellina hills, part of the Maremma Regional Park, is also unmissable and within everyone’s reach. Walking in this area will allow you to enjoy extremely different environments (beaches, swamps, pastures, etc.), but above all to enrich yourself observing the ruins of the Abbey of S. Rabano, a watchtowers on the sea, and the prehistoric caves.
Among the simple paths near the sea you can also experience a walking in the Ombrone river area, through a 2 hours path.
Another route, but of medium difficulty, is the one that starts from Albarese (about 30 minutes drive from our farms) and arrives in San Rabano abbey. A path of almost 4 hours walk and 30 minutes through the pine woods, which will allow you to observe the Abbey of San Rabano and the Torre dell’Uccellina.
Those who love the mountains could be interested in the Monte Labbro Nature Reserve which includes the Monte Amiata Wildlife Park. You can walk this vast area walking through the woods and enjoying the view of wild animals (including deer, fallow deer, chamois and roe deer). The itineraries are simple and follow the network of paths traced by the ancient lumberjacks.
In pring time, for those who want to travel for a short distance by car, we recommend the wonderful paths of the Val d’Orcia. Among the many itineraries it is possible to travel the ring that leads from San Quirico d’Orcia to Pienza, starting from Piazza Chigi in San Quirico and walking through fields as far as the eye can see surrounded by cypresses trees, for a journey time between 3 and 5 hours depending on the march taken. As an alternative to this route, it is also possible to visit the gorges of the Orcia: starting from San Quirico d’Orcia you can walk a ring of about 4 hours, walking among holm oaks and holm oaks. From this route it is also possible to reach the hot springs at Bagni Vignone.
Another interesting path in the Siena area is the large ring going from Isola d’Arbia to Ponte allo Spino, also in this case with a fairly long journey time of around 4 hours walk.
Still moving by car you can reach Monteriggioni and from here start by foot along the Via Francigena which arrives near Siena.
Sempre muovendosi in macchina è possibile raggiungere Monteriggioni e da lì partire a piedi percorrendo la tratta della Via Francigena che giunge vicino a Siena.
